This is a great softball bag... lots of room and very well made! So happy with our purchase. This bag meets all of my high schooler’s needs. The compartment are large, deep and sturdy. She’s a girl, so like most girls there’s things in the bag that aren’t standard daily softball items. !!? There’s smaller compartments for those private things too! Plus the three bat compartments are neat and well padded. I’d buy this one over and over!!Putting the shoes in the side pockets solves our running issue of dealing with muddy cleats and temperamental and hard to clean zipper compartments. However they are a bit too small for my daughters shoes. Wished they were about 25% larger to hold the shoes in place better.Other than that, she likes it a lot. Time will tell if it holds up longer than her previous softball bags. What an amazing bag! There is a place for everything. The drawstrings to keep bats snug in the pockets to do not work. The locking mechanism comes loose and the bats fall out. Absolutely terrible design. The bag is worthless. I'm surprised Rawlings sells such a terrible product. This bag is definitely for an adult. As soon as I saw it, my first reaction was, "it is huge".Here is what I like:Enough space - In the 2nd picture, I laid out everything I'd normally put in the bag (except the sunflower seeds). They easily fit in the bag with room to space. The 3rd picture shows the main compartment with helmet and glove and 2 softballs. The 4th picture shows the top compartment with youth shoes in it. Shoes are designed to go in the side pockets, but they also fit above.Flexibility - The side pockets can be used for shoes or water bottles.Appearance - This has a very sharp look to it. If this bag were a bit smaller in size, I'd really like it as it is has great colors and design.Dugout hook - A must for hanging backpacks on a fence to keep dugouts clean. What I don't like:Size - It is just too big and feels bulky on my back. I was hoping my youth daughter could use this, but not a chance. It would dwarf her as an 11-year old. This is what keeps it from being 5-star.Bats - At first, I thought bats should go in the side pockets as you see in two of the pictures. This DOES NOT work. The last picture shows how flimsy the bats fit in the sides. Instead, the bats slide into pockets in the back. There is room for 3 bats. They are a bit hard to get in, and then they do tend to slide a bit and bang into each other once in awhile. The first picture is how bats should look.Water bottle holder - I wished there was a more obvious and secure place to put water bottles. The sides are designed for shoes and work for water bottles, but not the best possible design as it tightens with a pull-strap at the top and it doesn't get tight enough in my opinion.Rawlings - I have not had good experience with Rawlings bats, so I'm not a big Rawlings fan at this point. I've had two break, and for a variety of (weak) reasons, the company has not stood behind them. I realize bats are different than this bag, but I am hoping this bag holds up better than the bats did.Oddly, the marketing pieces mention a removable top compartment, which turns out just to be the top flap. I'm not sure why you'd ever want to remove that. And the back strap is removable, but again, there wouldn't be any reason to do that. So, that feels like a bit of Rawlings trying too hard to find features that don't really make a difference.Overall, it is a sharp-looking, spacious bag for a larger adult, and has enough to like that I give it 4 stars. This bag took my niece some getting used to. The places where her normal softball gear go are moved around. The bats are on the back and there is space for three of them! The shoes go on the sides where the bats usually go. The valet pocket top comes off via velcro and unzipping. It is easy to reattach the valet top by velcroing and then realigning the zipper, but I almost prefer where the velcro for the batting gloves is always exposed and I don't have to worry about her losing a valet pocket top. By each of the shoe pouches, there are small zippered pockets. The advertising images show gloves in one of them. She is used to storing her sunglasses in the valet pouch, but the advertising image shows it's great to store a couple of softballs. I think the other small zippered pouch by her shoes would be good for her sunglasses as long as they are in a hard case so they don't get damaged. Because of the location of the bats, I like the additional grab strap that is on the front of the bag. The only disappointment is that there appears to be no external pouch for a water bottle. We'll have to play around with it and see if she wants to put things in different spots then advertised so she can have a water bottle with quick access. That's my only negative, the bag is very well made and I like the easy clean material that is used on the bottom of the bag.** Thank you so much for taking the time to read my review.I hope the information that I've provided helps to make your decision a little easier. If you found this review helpful, please click the ‘Helpful’ button below.
