This is a well-built backpack. I think it's ideal purpose is as an extra roomy large laptop carrier. I have a similar one for my 17" laptop, but styled for a woman from another brand. The inside is very well padded and compartmentalized for this purpose. The front pocket is even compartmentalized for a tablet or notebook and stationery too. However I ordered this for my husband for hunting. I don't think it's ideal for this use but it's useable. Reasons:- It's not really weatherproof. There's no indication that the materials are finished with technical coating or made with a technical fiber or weave, and the zippers aren't sealed. Even the protective flap over the front pockets has stylized metal breather holes but only makes for an easier way for rain to get under it.- It's not lightweight, but not horribly heavy either; just not maximized for a long day of carrying.- The removeable carabiner strap at center front pulls the attachment tab down if you were to hang anything off it. The only practical purpose I can see this serving is as a protective measure to deter thieves from getting into the front pockets. The strap doesn't cinch either so it may not hold things like coats securely.- Usually outdoor packs will have a built in safety whistle on the sternum strap. This doesn't have one.Granted it's not marketed as a hunting backpack, I find it a little misleading for outdoor purposes as it is designated as an off-road backpack so I was expecting tech materials, lighter weight, and weatherproof design. The camo pattern certainly threw me too, as well as other reviewers who said that this was perfect for their hunting needs.Off-road shortcomings aside, there are other improvements that could be made:- The water bottle pocket placement is ideal when using as a backpack, but if you're using the shoulder strap, it rests at the bottom side. Not ideal when you're setting down your bag, and not accessible while carrying.- The shoulder strap doesn't have any padding. I would expect something of this size which could carry a heavy load to have more protection and comfort for the shoulder.- Top load only. Measuring 22-1/2" x 12-3/4" x 6-1/2", this size is carry-on friendly for airplanes, however for travel a full zip around the perimeter would make this easier to access everything inside all at once. The zipper in the main compartment only allows the pack to open halfway, so you will need to unload the top to get to the items packed at the bottom.- The front pocket has pleats on the outside which leads you to think it's a gusset for expansion. It's not, as the inner lining of the pocket is completely flat.Criticisms aside, the pack itself it very well made and the materials are very durable with good construction. It feels as it will hold up to a lot of use and a bit of abuse. The straps are very well padded and are comfortable for my husband to wear. It even has rings on the straps to attach items for easy accessibility. The main back of the pack when wearing as a backpack is very well padded and breathable too. The hip straps each have a zippered pocket for small items like ID, credit cards, matches, or keys.I tried this on as a 5'2" woman and the waist/hip straps are a little low for me but are okay without a whole lot of weight. The sternum strap is also too low for a woman and cuts across the breast. If you're an average to short woman and are looking for a large pack to carry all day, the load on this won't be evenly distributed for maximum comfort on your frame. There are certainly packs designed specifically for women with this in mind. All that aside, I still think this is an excellent general use large pack. My husband will still use it hunting while keeping his eye out for a better purpose-built outdoor pack.Love the hunter-military look of this backpack. Especially when the flap to hide the zipper is up & rolled on top. But it's just too heavy and cumbersome. For a 50-lt capacity, it already feels full & weighty when still empty. I usually like backpacks with multi-pockets and accessories. However, this has handles, slots, and pockets that are awkward to get to and to use. Such as the 2 rubber handles on the sides of the front. The main compartment has more than ample space to fit a 17-in laptop. My husband likes that since he usually brings his 17-in laptop, 12-in tablet, heavy-cased phone, and folders of documents in his work bag. However, it's total weight will make this only an occasional use for him. Like when he travels by car. Too heavy for airline travel.Moderately recommended. If your camping/hiking/traveling this is the pack for you, amazing amounts of storage space in a sturdy waterproof military styled bag. I am in love with this pack already made a few friends jealous and haven't even hit the trail yet. The size is more than ample. Shoulder straps and kidney belt are wide providing decent comfort. I found that most regular suitcases get destroyed after a few trips with multiple layovers but this bag has held up incredibly well, I think the odd shape makes baggage handlers less inclined to toss it around. The waist strap is removable and the other straps haven't caught or ripped while traveling either. I also found it's easier to get around town or airports with this bag as compared to a regular suitcase, especially if you have to climb any stairs. This is actually a really nice backpack/duffel bag. It's well-built of strong and durable materials, well padded, and spacious. Features are well thought-out. The shoulder pads are thick and well padded. The strap running down the front of each strap and the D rings allow you to conveniently attach accessories, like a small flashlight or a walkie mic. I think a chest strap and a waist strap always makes a backpack more comfortable and secure. The waist strap has padded sides with a small zippered pocket on each side. These straps are stow-able behind a roll-up panel so you can use this bag as a duffel bag. When configured as a duffel, the two thick rubber handles on the front and one on the side make it easy to carry. There's also a really nice shoulder strap included. The only downside is that all the thick materials and padding make this bag slightly heavy at over 2 kilos when empty.
