I cannot say enough how AMAZING this backpack is and that I am so glad I decided to buy it! I purchased the chocolate. The color is so rich and beautiful. The leather is thick but buttery soft. It seems to be extremely durable. All the seams are securely stitched and straight. The buckle clasps are strong and secure. I read where several reviewers asked about keys....the keyholes are strictly aesthetic.It's a large capacity pack and could easily be used as a carry-on when flying, for a weekend away or for backpacking. With the rugged durability of this rucksack I know I'll be using it for years to come. I tried to include a closeup picture of the leather so you can get a feel for the quality. The leather is comparable to that of a Frye bag or Bed Stu. The two outside front pockets are huge. I was able to fit a full sized paperback novel in each and still have room to spare. The side pocket is pretty worthless as a cell phone holder but I've found my sunglasses fit perfectly. The interior has a tan lining. It's not very thick but seems like it will hold up and not tear easily.....besides, I bought it for the exterior. There is a zipper pocket on the inside of the flap as well as another zipper compartment inside with two additional open pockets for a phone or other stuff. The zipper pulls are metal and stamped with the name "Piel". The straps are very thick and padded which makes it comfortable. If you have it loaded down it's not going to dig into your shoulders. I'm very small framed and only 5'4" and it's fine on me. I did have to put the straps in the shortest setting because as others have stated, the straps are ridiculously long. The only issue I had was on one of the straps the holes weren't punched through so I had to do it myself. Easy fix, take a nail and lightly hammer it through on a hard surface, then pull the nail out and voila'!If you are on the fence about this gorgeous bag (which can be for men or women) I say go for it!! You won't regret it! Oh, and it comes in a nice dustbag so you can store it when not using it to keep it protected.First I have to say I hardly ever write reviews but just had to say something about this bag. It is just BEAUTIFUL! I got the Saddle color and couldn't be happier. The leather is buttery soft and the size is perfect. I was looking for something large enough to carry when I travel that would be easy to handle and provide enough space for my day to day stuff and all those extras you take when away from home for a few days. One of the things I like best that wasn't really mentioned much in the other reviews is the weight of the bag, although all leather and lined, it is not heavy. I've been looking at lots of bags and some weighed a ton with nothing in them. Us gals tend to carry a ton of stuff so starting with a heavy bag is out for me. The large flap and the two front pockets all have secure easy to open push snap-in locks and the side small pocket is secured with Velcro. As some have mentioned that side pocket is really to small for a phone but I would prefer securing my phone in one of the front pockets anyway. Hardware is nice and the shoulder straps are padded but not overdone (didn't want to look like I was carrying camping gear). I'm 5'2" with a small frame and although bigger than a "purse style" backpack it's not too big. My husband is 5'11" and personally we thought the bag a bit small as a travel bag for him. He also thought that if he were to get one that the dark brown or black would be better suited for a guy. I was at a Coach outlet this weekend and bags this size ran (on sale) ran between $300-$375 the leather on this bag far exceeded those bags...just sayin'...if you're on the fence about it GET THIS ONE. The quality is fantastic and I really don't think you can beat it for the price.The Piel Leather Large Buckle-Flap Backpack, is made with Beautiful, Quality Leather. A SturdyBackpack, that is Very Large and it would hold a lot. : )As I've stated in previous reviews... I don't often write reviews. That being said, I felt compelled to write something regarding this Piel product. To begin with.. I opened the box it came in and I immediately smelled that wonderful "riding saddle smell" of pure unadulterated fine leather. Not oily smelling or overpowering.. just a scent that says unequivocally "This bag was impossibly expensive, and the person you see wearing it reeks of good taste". This is a handle carry bag / over the shoulder back sack that will most definitely NOT disappoint.This bag looks fantastic and would compete toe to toe with bags I priced out at some high-end shops.. that were 2 - 4 times the price of this one! Go online and check yourself if you don't believe me. This is a high quality bag that will wear & age well over time, acquiring a beautiful "stressed" patina that will only make it look better.Also... the inside of the bag is SUPER ROOMY! There are small & larger zipper compartments that you can put your "private items" in or your cell phone, or anything elase for that matter that you didn't want to put in one of the outside pockets. All in all the size and storage capability of this bag is exceptional. Last I will say that I travel a great deal throughout europe and the U.S. for my job. Much to my surprise and delight I have had many many people stop me in airports, on a plane, train or the street to compliment the bag & ask me where I purchased it. This makes it worth every penny..
